Your Texas Project Questions, Answered

Texas architectural metal projects often involve questions about climate performance, cooling efficiency and material durability. Here are a few frequently asked questions and answers to help you get started.

What Materials Perform Best in the Intense Texas Sun?

While materials like aluminum and stainless steel are chosen for their inherent durability, the finish is critical for long-term UV resistance and color retention. The best choice depends on your project's specific location and design goals. Our team helps you select the optimal material and finish combination to ensure long-term performance.

How Do Perforated Facades Help Reduce Cooling Costs?

Perforated facades reduce solar heat gain by providing an exterior screen that creates shade while still allowing for airflow. The key is the perforation pattern — the size, shape and spacing of the holes. Our team engineers custom perforation patterns to meet the specific solar performance goals of your Texas project.

Can You Manufacture for Projects in Humid or Coastal Areas Like Houston?

Yes. We have extensive experience with projects in coastal regions. We help you select the right corrosion-resistant materials and industrial-grade finishes, such as marine-grade aluminum or stainless steel, to ensure your installation withstands the humidity and salt air of environments like Houston.

Wedge Wire Screens

Body Block #1:

Wedge wire screens are critical in many commercial and industrial applications, from filtering and screening to drying, cleaning and dewatering. These products consist of V-shaped wire wrapped around welded structural supports to create a durable screening solution resistant to clogging. Screen design options can accommodate various shapes, sizes and materials to meet an extensive range of project requirements.

At Hendrick Screen Company, we use various durable wedge wire materials to meet your specifications, including stainless steel, copper-nickel and various specialty alloys. Our innovative design and manufacturing processes ensure outstanding strength and smooth profiles, resulting in a highly durable, clog-resistant product. We can manufacture screens with slot openings as small as 0.004 inches and a standard flatness of 1/8 inches or greater. Designs are available in flat, curved or cylindrical configurations. Cylindrical wedge wire screens can accommodate different flow directions based on radial or axial designs.

Benefits of Wedge Wire Products

Wedge wire screens from Hendrick Screen Company offer many benefits over other screening and filtration methods, including:

  • Cost-efficiency: Wedge wire screens are cost-effective filtration solutions because they offer long-term durability, reducing the need for frequent replacements and maintenance. Their efficient filtration properties also help optimize processes, improve productivity and minimize waste, leading to significant cost savings over time.
  • Maximum flow rates: Precision manufacturing and tight tolerances allow optimal flow and filtration. Hendrick Screen Company's advanced engineering, design and manufacturing processes ensure the correct wire, panel and open area specifications for your project or process.
  • Excellent strength: In high-pressure operations or in applications where more potent particles can impact filtration, strength is critical. Because wedge wire screens have resistance welding, they are far more able to resist damage from problematic stressors. The materials we manufacture our screens from also play a significant role in this strength.
  • Low maintenance: Wedge wire screens require minimal maintenance and upkeep, unlike some complex filtration systems with parts that quickly wear out. Simple backflushing is a fast solution to help remove rare, stubborn clogs.
  • Temperature resistance: Wedge wire screens containing alloys like stainless steel have excellent heat resistance properties, allowing them to withstand extreme temperatures without deforming or losing their filtration capabilities. This benefit is especially beneficial in applications that involve hot or cold temperatures, like chemical processing or refining.
  • Customization options: Hendrick Screen Company can customize wedge wire screens to meet specific filtration requirements. We can configure the slot openings, wire diameters, and overall dimensions according to your unique needs, improving filtration performance and efficiency.

Applications of Wedge Wire for Screening

Wedge wire screens are ideal for various filter and screen applications that require durable, high-quality construction with cost-effective pricing. These products address many challenges in applications where strength, tight tolerances and trouble-free filtration are critical.

Several common industries include:

  • Wastewater treatment
  • Power generation
  • Food and beverage processing
  • Petro-chemical applications
  • Pulp and paper mills
  • Coal and mining

Stainless steel wedge wire screens also work well for decorative applications for floors, walls and panels.

Profile Bar Screens

Body Block #1:

Hendrick Screen Company takes pride in producing high-quality Profile Bar screens with superior performance in various applications. Our screens are engineered to withstand heavy loads, provide a flat surface and require minimal maintenance. Discover how our Profile Bar solutions can improve your operations and deliver long-term cost savings.

What Are Profile Bar Screens?

Profile Bar screens, or flat profile wire screens, are advanced screening solutions crafted from extruded bars shaped to form a precise profile. Our Profile Wire screens are assembled using Hendrick Screen’s proprietary construction method that enhances their durability and stability, making them a preferred choice for demanding applications where precision and reliability are paramount.

Benefits of Profile Bar Screens

  • Superior construction: Profile Bar screen bars are more than twice the height and weight of other screen bars; in fact, the individual bars are substantially stronger and stiffer than wedge wire. Less expensive resistance-welded screens require a thicker bar to achieve the desired strength, which limits the open area of the screen. By using a narrower, stronger bar, Profile Bar screens can provide a larger open area.
  • High strength: As a result of our Profile Bar assembly process, the bars are held firmly in place, making them very resistant to bending or tilting out of place. These screens have a greater impact strength than resistance welding wedge wire, making it more resistant to damage from heavy objects.
  • Flatter Screens: Profile Bar screens are an assembly, not a weldment. The height of the bars and the absence of welds result in a very flat, stable screen that is ideal when a mechanical cleaner is required.
  • Large open area: Stronger bars allow greater spacing between the support rods.
  • More material options: In addition to stainless steel, copper-nickel and specialty alloys, Profile Bar products can be produced in aluminum and carbon steel.
  • Ability to carry heavy loads, including liquids
  • No cracking or breaking like cast grates
  • Design flexibility — can be curved, flat or cylindrical
  • Longer service life and greater economy of use: The superior damage resistance of Profile Bar screens when used with a mechanical screen cleaner offers an improved economy and less maintenance than the initially less expensive welded screens. When you design your next screen, we ask that you evaluate the initial price of the Hendrick Profile Bar screen to the long-term cost and maintenance of the welded screen construction.

Options for Profile Bar Screens

  • Available in various slot openings, widths, heights and cap sizes
  • Can be produced flat, curved or cylindrical
  • Slot openings from 0.005" and up
  • Flatness ranges from 0.06" and up
  • Bar gauges between 0.069" and 0.50"
