Perforated Metal Cladding in Atlanta, GA
Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD)
Project Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Perforation Pattern: Custom Geometric Pattern
When the Savanah College of Art and Design (SCAD) required custom-designed cladding for their Atlanta campus Digital Media Center, they selected Hendrick Architectural to fulfill their needs.
The 60,000-square-foot facility opened in 2009 and is home to the School of Animation and Motion, the School of Creative Technology and the School of Film and Acting. Students majoring in film and television, animation, video game development and other visual media learn and work in this state-of-the-art center.
Like the creative endeavors happening inside, Hendrick designed a one-of-a-kind, custom geometric pattern in collaboration with the SCAD design group. The shapes are cut into the .190” thick aluminum, using a state-of-the-art fiber laser machine.
The panels were installed with hidden fasteners over a modified version of Hendrick’s H-CLAD HD system, presenting a crisp aesthetic, desired by the design group. The panels are finished with a PPG DURANAR® Sunstorm Silversmith paint, providing years of durability and lasting color.
